The Green Island is a man-made island in Kuwait that can be found just off the shore of the city’s promenade.
It first opened its doors in February 1988 and has since been a renowned tourist destination and vacation spot for residents of Kuwait.
It’s an artificial island made from reclaimed land.
The island is 785,000 square meters in size, stretching from Al Shuwaikh to Ras Alard, and is bordered by natural rocks that were transported from Al-Fujairah to the Emirates.
According to legend, even the sands on the beaches of Green Island were sent in from elsewhere- one of the best beaches in Kuwait.
T.E.C owns the island, and they’ve planted it with 50,000 different shrubs and seedlings, so it doesn’t look or feel like you’re in a desert.
Green Island’s main attractions
A swimming pool ranging in depth from 2.5 to 3 metres runs along the island’s eastern coast.
Many forms of entertainment are available on the Island, including a theatre that can hold at least 700 people.
On the island is a 35-meter-tall observation tower with a water tank on its uppermost level.
From the tower’s vantage point, sightseers have a bird’s-eye view of the entire island.
Among the tower’s many features is a Children’s Castle, complete with its rooms, passageways, spiral stairwells, and cascading waterfalls.
There is a restaurant and a fully-stocked service centre on both ends of the island.
Soap football, a playground for youngsters, inflatable bouncy castles, train rides, a good walking route, bicycle rentals, and an opportunity for an outdoor picnic lunch are just some of the family-friendly activities available.
